Why not log compile times with emerge, and let the statistics be sent
with gentoo-statistics? As far as I can see
(http://stats.gentoo.org/statistics-profiles.htm), there is several
thousands of users providing information with gentoo-statistics. Could
provide a fairly good base for calculations.
