Hi,
most of routers have also a DNS proxy function; often it is implemented
as UDP only service. You can put an external nameserver of your choice
at the end of /etc/resolv.conf. E.g.:
nameserver 192.168.1.1
nameserver 195.185.185.195
With firewalls and routers with firewall function the service (domain)
53/tcp should be allowed from/to an external nameserver.
