Simon,

Not much help regarding your specific question, but I'm getting similar 
errors when trying to compile KDE-CVS-20020913. QT compiled without 
incident, but the KDE-CVS sources are bombing out with exactly the same 
error you report.

I've CC'd this to the dev list, as this is probably where the query best 
belongs.
