Hi,

It would be a great favour, if all developers would also update the Changelog file while committing to the CVS. it is really helpful for one to see the changes when one rsync's or updates his cvs. neednot wait for the gentoo-cvs mail to come.

i remember once lordjoe ( if i remember properly) had voiced this issue. 

please this is a request.

Hi!

I had a discussion with people about this when I started working on
Gentoo. As I recollect this was to be done automatically, or?
If this is not true, ie. that we are supposed to add an entry to the
ChangeLog someone has to make a script and a function for emacs and
vim (and possibly other editors that has this capability) to easy
create an entry in the ChangeLog. Otherwise I think that it'll be
forgotten and if not all people use it it looses it's purpose.

I know that drobbins had plans for this but I don't really remember
them so it's better if he describes what is going to be done about
this.

When I started on gentoo we used to do this. I hated it. And it seemed I
was one of the only ones who did it. Then I asked dan and basically he said
the heck with it.

Right now, /usr/portage/ChangeLog is depreciated and we are only using
CVS comments for logging.  This will be the situation until we replace
ChangeLog with a better system.  This will probably happen after our
team structure is up to speed.
