When you compiled your kernel, did you choose ACPI or APM?

I've just installed gentoo in my PC but I have a problem... the pc wont
poweroff.

I have tried with:
poweroff
halt -p
shutdown -h now
halt
shutdown

I have instaled linux Mandrake 8.2 in the same computer (another partition)
and it powersoff just fine.

Is this something that I have to do in a configuration file or maybe is a
kernel compilation issue??

Thanks in advance

Works fine for me, but I heard it could have issues on some
bioses.

Configure your kernel with apm and choose enable pm at boot time
and then when you type "shutdown -h now" it should poweroff for you.
