It successfully compiles such highly non-trivial things as maxima and fricas (though compilation times are *very* long), and they work well. gcl is, probably, second to sbcl with respect to speed (I mean the speed of the result of compilation, naturally, not of the compilation process). gcl is supposed to be very portable. Currently in Gentoo it is ~amd64 ~arm ~ppc ~ppc64 ~x86 In Debian, gcl is supported on amd64 arm64 armel armhf i386 mips64el mipsel ppc64el s390x plus inofficial ports to alpha hppa m68k ppc64 riscv64 sh4 sparc64 x32 Impressive. Maybe, somebody who has appropriate hardware can try to build gcl on arm64? Or on some other arch missing in the Gentoo list? Andrey
