Just to be clear of misunderstanding here:
A port away from py2-only pygtk does not necessarily have to mean a
port to gtk+:3 at the same time - pygobject:3 (the
`from gi.repository import ...` stuff) works just fine with
gtk+:2[introspection] as well.
Of course ideally it would be ported to gtk3 as well (and starting with
later this year to gtk4).
