If it is set it worked fine (Using the 2.6 version) Unfortunately I didn't keep the log of where it failed although it failed in emerge system. I am currently using a Dell 2600 as part of a revolving web server arrangement. It has not had a single problem. It's doing the Apache 2 + FastCGI + PHP4 + MySQL4 + exim thing.
