I hadn't considered abi_x86_32 since I gave up on WINE and Skype. The motivation section that started this thread especially called out the openssl/libressl thing as the terrible thing and that's why I thought this would be much easier to just solve with virtuals. Thinking harder about things like python_targets_python2_7 (trying to go py3 clean except on packages that won't is a *drag*) and abi_x86_32, this thread has a point. Carry on!
