That people are actively using it (presumably in production and not just experimental/development suggests at the very least that the appropriate Gentoo wiki article needs updating (no surprise there!). Perhaps indeed genkernel needs some updating. When I last looked at the best means of creating an initramfs, it was the least of the evils, but there did seem a genuine lack of tools to accomplish it, which is where I assume dracut came about. Fundamentally, acknowledging a tangent of the original thread, I'd say the jury remains out on whether Gentoo should be forcing the need of an initramfs/rd on its users by default anyway. That kind of thing, however, is of course, subject to a Council ruling if appropriate :) . --mbmAftbwJwxIr6ExpcFoMEWwDnu1md9t8 Content-Type: application/pgp-signature; name="signature.asc" Content-Description: OpenPGP digital signature Content-Disposition: attachment; filename="signature.asc" -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v2.0.22 (GNU/Linux) Comment: Using GnuPG with Thunderbird - http://www.enigmail.net/ iQIcBAEBCAAGBQJXCdAyAAoJEEwwM0+TwiNxnZ4P/2nYIrom0xWnkMQvIgzq164J KTljYPmdO+7ftH/u9ZrtBUa4+yzX991D+0n8/JkfmhXG6jCfSus+MO9NdoxmReu/ o7AnAZxaM4019jFwberma5W4KcLNQpyhFgrq4EfGBquEjWKvIKzyBWbTc1pzL8J0 +O61yZoo79SDl7u2XCXq3BTluSZBO5IJNbEYpIkCtHD8yO+69GcbwDUiw0zEWR+Y OoWgjciCf7EKYJI1KsnxjzWHyjQeF97tBtTbzgVrIjT75jZqSmG99LLG1AMpKLyt aft8HwOyWnsyOrAscxGycnBVw9UPPMaSFFvRoYz6aPiGmdbs2MDo0HUSgBmn+Yhv QScPoIax1ORXSn0+dh0zlL18clObcLIg6B4hSS/YcZg2u4S3C5RtKIEfmmYD6oE3 t44AexzY10miu2UH2nWAGcWLjeiOC3rngb/2Hx7Nj29jLvHunT2kaWo5qYg+eKmc DRRnsefFr9QWvOpU4DHjnoonfgM5Jf8iDNFAE1cpteZVXk3BqPykRtJFqV4LyEU5 X/4GcGR2sBFlh6qnwtpejcBkWgyNpnrZFMOlZpF/XO0bNvEsKygq/FBKlFfFfKyf xK4SARteDkJKHEmOgPDPNfXPW0HYidM9x3t7vbPxaium4beZ15e/kKN8d9jvnpmP LqKdenVmvJj/D9svlRxM =RWKW -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- --mbmAftbwJwxIr6ExpcFoMEWwDnu1md9t8--
