Hello

Is pam team still active? I wonder about this as, recently, we have
needed to go ahead and fix some bugs related, for example, with pambase
and pam_ssh

Thanks for the info :)

I stopped caring about pambase when people decided to break it.

I'm still officially pam herd as maintainer of Linux-PAM, pam_ssh I don't
use and care very little about.

So I guess it's time to call for maintainers or we should consider
merging this herd with another one (base?) to avoid unattended bugs for
a long time.

well, the sep herd was kind of by design ... i didn't want it cluttering up
base-system@ and it is super convenient to abdicate all PAM decisions to a
single herd.

I understand that but if nobody is tracking pam@ then what's the point?

Yeah the problem has been that the herd has been fundamentally a single
person, and when said single person asked for the rest of the users
of/providers for PAM to accentrate on a single package, they ignored/worked
around problems instead of reporting/discussing them.

how would moving it to base-system make any difference ? people doing it wrong
wouldn't really care which herd pam itself is owned by.

I'm not saying it makes a difference, sorry I didn't make it clear.

I only suggested that as part of our usual 'drop-dead-teams' process in
the retirement team. So in this case, either a 'parent' herd needs to
inherit the packages or simply drop them to maintainer-needed

sys-auth/pam-pgsql
sys-auth/pam_dotfile
sys-auth/pam_krb5
sys-auth/pam_ldap
sys-auth/pam_passwdqc
sys-auth/pam_ssh
sys-auth/pam_ssh_agent_auth
sys-auth/pambase
sys-libs/pam
virtual/pam

This are the packages under pam team management, would be nice to know
if there is somebody maintaining each of them or we need new maintainer
for any

Thanks

If we limit it to the virtual, pam and pambase, I'm happy to stick
maintaining them, the others I don't use, which is why I don't care about
them as much.

OK, then, I would move this to maintainer-needed if nobody takes them in
a week or so
