I would be shot if it was automated;

i will soon have some nifty bash scripts to generate e-mails and the
pmask file, but they aren't done yet.

All packages are reviewed prior to removal.

packages up for review are either shown to me by another developer with
bugs attached, or are returned via some heuristics (age,staleness,
brokenness, etc).

This mailing list? Yes. It's auto-generated by monkeys... that's why
there's so many darn messages on there. Occasionally Jeff's (jforman)
goats will come and help the monkeys out when we need to ramp up the
volume.

Hence the phrase... given an infinite amount of monkey's typing for an
infinite amount of time, the Gentoo mailing lists will be recreated.

Oh wait, we were talking about treecleaners... not the mailing list...

The problem is: how to get the bugs assigned to certain package versions ?

I did not yet see any consistent syntax for version information in 
the bugs. 

Could we add fields for package name and version in bugzilla ?
This should allow an easy querying. 

Perhaps we could get this done better with an little (cmdline ?)
tool for bug-reporting, which collects the necessary information 
by itself.

For example:

foo:/ # bug-report findutils
Reporting bug for: sys-apps/findutils-4.3.0

Enter description (press CTRL-D):   

....

... posting bug ... added ID: 238472

foo:/ #


If bugs of certain packages get reported this way, we could put
virtually anything (package list, use flags, mask file, ...) into it,
and the doesn't have to even think about what could be needed.
This also could take some load from the bug-wranglers, since these
bugs could be directly assigned to the appropriate package/herd
mainatainers.

I've bumped this one to version 0.4.1. As it's a python frontend
to various encoders, I'd like to keep it.
I've left it masked, I'll remove the mask during next week if nobody
complains.
The only reason I found to remove this one is the lack of maintainer,
so, I'm your man ! (through video herd, no need to be listed as the
only maintainer for small packages that shouldn't be time consuming
nor difficult to maintain)

Although the treecleaners project has been suspended, I have, as a
member of the desktop-wm herd, removed this package.
