Taking a look at some other sites it looks like 15 minutes is average wih 30 minutes being the longest interval I've found. Whatever interval you choose, maybe making it known on the front page would be a good idea, like kde's warning: "We update every ten minutes, so having your feed reader check more frequently than that will just waste bandwidth.
