Hi All,
So, mpg123 has its share of problems, not least of which is its
licensing. So, the proposed solution is to have a virtual/mpg123 which
mpg321 will provide by default. I understand that there is one package
which will need some patching (and it's being looked into -- the names
of the package and the looker-into escape me right now, because my brain
is made of swiss cheese) to work with mpg321 as a drop-in replacement.
So, if everyone is ok with it -- I will institute this change in about
48 hours. If you agree with this solution, please do NOT respond. Only
respond if you disagree (and please give a logical explanation).
thanks,

The motivation behind this can be found at
http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=14940
Please append any notes to that bug so we may better track its progress.

The package is media-sound/orpheus and I told you on IRC yesterday that
I'll look into it.

I'm still wondering why I have to have mpg123 installed on a server with
no sound card.
