Hi everyone,

Just a quick note to say that I've added three new packages to Portage this
evening:

	dev-libs/skalibs
	sys-apps/cloop
	sys-apps/minutils

I've included ebuilds for both cloop-0.68 and cloop-1.0. v0.68 is the one
used on the Gentoo 1.4 CDs. compressed file systems created using cloop-1.0
can't be read by cloop-1.0.

minutils includes a version of freeramdisk, a utility found on the Gentoo 1.4
CDs.

Best regards,
Stu

Last I heard, the Gentoo LiveCDs used an enhanced/sped up version of cloop
called gcloop? Have they been merged or was there some problem with gcloop
that we went back to cloop?
Also, if 1.0 can't read 1.0-created cloops, what can?

I'm just going on the livecd-ng script in livewire's public_html dir. It'd be
great if the cd build scripts - and all the software required - was already
in CVS, then we wouldn't have to guess like this :)

Oops - that was a typo. 0.68 can't read 1.0-created cloops, because 1.0 uses
64-bit file pointers.

Thanks,
Stu

gcloop ucl is used in the ppc cd because plain cloop seems to have not
reproducible issues there
cloop or gcloop zlib is used in x86 cd for the pretty same reason
unreproducible issues with gcloop ucl at module loading time on certain
system

Since gcloop ucl/lzo/zlib and cloop are drop-ins replacements from the
livecd generator point of view, every time the one working best for the
purpose is used.

Currently I'm trying to make a quite generic *cloop supporting module
for 2.6 kernel if someone is willing to help me fixing the bugs that are
present at the current state or are willing to help me porting the
compressors in the kernel in a clean way (currently I have the ucl
compressor more or less working and the generic module almost done but
with issues)

Daniel was working on integrating it into stager (which is indeed
in CVS).
