  Hi,

After an emerge -e world, followed by emerge -Dp world caused
my dead keys/accented chars to not work any more for X/kde appls!

On the console they work fine.

I am using the same XF86Config file I used before.

I have already posted this to gentoo-user but got no
working fix.

I also have reemerged xfree.

I am sending also the LOGs of the sessions.

Thanks for any help.

Hi,

I had a similar problem with deadkeys. I found a solution
on the gentoo forum, I dont remember who came up with it,
but here it is (this is for icelandic, adjust it for your
language):

localedef -i is_IS -c -f ISO-8859-1 is_IS

echo "LC_CTYPE=\"is_IS\"" > /etc/env.d/02locale
env-update

If it doesn't work, try searching on the gentoo forum, there
were several other solutions there.

Ok. It was solved by using LC_CTYPE and MM_CHARSET!
    localedef ... was not needed.

Is this a bug or is it needed from now on?

BTW, I didn't know about the gentoo foruns. That's why I posted
before taking a look there.

Tahnks.

Well,

If you emerge a recent xfree (patch_ver 1.1.4 or higher) this problem should be non-existent.
