It seemed simple -- a quick 'emerge abiword', then to get on
with writing my book. But now, I have spent approximately
half an hour dealing with this absurdity. Turns out ibiblio
has replaced the source for pspell with a friendly page
asking me what my preferred mirror is, and redirecting me to
the _real_ file. This is totally unacceptable. Linx thinks
it's a gzipped tarball, because of its extension -- and who
can blame it? -- and attempts to download it. After saving
the file and, on a hunch, renaming it to .html, Lynx finally
reads it -- but emerge still barfs, not even checking what
type of file it is before doing the md5sum -- and who can
blame it?

Nevertheless, this must be fixed. There are two ways of
fixing it -- bother ibiblio until they get rid of their
nice, friendly page, or replace every reference to every
file this has affected with a reference to the real file.
It seems obvious which one to do, but as my XWindows is
down, I have been browsing with Lynx. Their contact page is
extremely unhelpful with Lynx, helpful as it might (emphasis
on 'might') be later.

They're your mirror, so I suggest you complain to them.
Until then, it's back to Windows -- and a precompiled
Windows binary.
