Subject: [gentoo-dev] SYSLOG dependancy
Date: Sun Sep 16 20:05:02 2001	[thread overview]
Message-ID: <3BA559B4.C80170C4@home.com> (raw)

I second the nomination for a generic, syslogger dependency.

I'm thinking it would be a very nice idea for a virtual/syslog
category. This is nearly perfect for an global rc.conf setting
a la SYSLOG="metalog", SYSLOG="sysklogd", etc..

I gather we'd need some glue to allow initscripts to depend
on 'syslog', not sure what that glue would be, perhaps an
satisfy() { provide syslog }. Just a hunch...

I'm sure theres more issues, which I'm probably not even
aware of. What are others thinking?

Regards
