Hi, devs
I was reminded of this whilst reading over the newly posted Desktop Guide.
Great work by the way, I enjoyed reading it.
>From /etc/profile:
#eval `dircolors -b`
#commented out because it causes problems with tcsh
Why not just change it to:
eval `dircolors`
...which causes dircolors to act properly, based on $SHELL. :-)
This makes the default setup more colorful... archives and image files
come to mind. Is there interest in providing a DIR_COLORS file?
This could extend things even further.
Another nugget I was thinking of... Gentoo doesn't currently have a
lesspipe.sh script. If you're not familiar with it, this lets you view
compressed archives and such using less. See:
http://www-zeuthen.desy.de/~friebel/unix/lesspipe.html
Slackware has a simpler implementation, and Im sure other Linux vendors
provide one.. probably Debian. But anyway, its incredibly useful.. If there
is interest, I could look at making it work with most since it is the default
pager. Any interest in this?
Cheers

OK, fixed on CVS. Thanks.

Yes, a DIR_COLORS file could be a nice thing. Wanna work on one?

Yes, I'm interested. Although I imagine that lesspipe.sh would have tons of
dependencies, so we would include it as an optional ebuild rather than making
it part of the less ebuild proper.
Best Regards,
