I have just written an ebuild file for jikes, IBM's open source, high
performance java compiler.
Should we add it to Gentoo under dev-java?

Mail it to drobbins@gentoo.org, he'll check it out and commit it for you. I'd
do it, but I am still in a sort of "probationary" period as I am still quite
new to gentoo developer status.
Thanks for the contribution!!

I would, but I got an internal compiler error while compiling this
package. The jikes code needs a very standards comliant compiler and I
guess gcc2.95.2 does not cut. Maybe we should upgrade thegcc to gcc-2.95.3?
Anyway here is the file

2.95.3 should be in the tree now. I know for a fact that achim made sure to
compile everything in the latest rc snap with 2.95.3 so I'm sure it's been
uploaded.

gcc-2.95.3 is in the tree, but it is not the default in
sys-i686-20010421-r1.tbz2 that I used to install this system. It has
gcc-2.95.2. Maybe achim's next snapshot sys.tbz2 should have gcc-2.95.3.
Also could one of you huys try the ebuild file to see if this is an issue
with the compiler or my hardware.

Hi Naresh,
Are you sure you used -r1? I used 2.95.2 in 20010421 that's why I
uploaded r1 a few hours later.
If your build requires automake, try to downgrade automake-1.4d to 1.4
found a few quirks here while testing with 1.4d.
bye achim

Hi Naresh,
Here the ebuild works (using gcc-2.95.3), I'm fixing a few install path
issues then I commit it.
Thank you for the work.
BTW: new snapshot will be avaliable today ot tomorrow
bye achim

The snapshot I used had gcc-2.95.2 on it. Will wait for the latest
snapshot and try again.
