personally, I thought the install was very straight forward. The
documentation led me through my first source based install easily, and
relativly quick. It may be difficult the first time, but it is getting
easier and easier every subsequent gentoo install I do.

This is the kind of stuff I don't like about people who will only use mandrake or redhat for the GUI install, if its intimidating LEARN A BIT!
I don't mean to be rude it just gets on my nerves.

Yea, I agree. I mean all someone has to do is RTFM and boom, gentoo is
easier to install than Mandrake. I personally hate GUI and am thankful
for good old fashion command line. Long live the command line.

Hello,
I downloaded stage3-i686-1.1a.tar and installed the system. Installation
was fast and painless. However I have no idea how to proceed and run
emerge to add new packages to the system.
With SuSE 7.3 the connection to the provider is pppoe. Which packages do I
need to install to connect from Gentoo Linux?
Best regards
Karl
