[gentoo-dev] ALSA 0.9.x series

Can anyone offer any insight to using the development version (e.g. does it
work)of ALSA on Gentoo? I'd like to install it so that I can get some of the
GATOS stuff working, but I'm unsure as to whether I will lose compatibilty
with other things.

alsa 0.9 works decently :)
some packages (old esound 0.2.24 fex.) broke since it didn't have alsa
0.9 api support, but all the "new" packages have alsa 0.9 support, so
they work nicely now.
I think "arts" may require you to export USE="-alsa" before emerging,
but that's it.
