[gentoo-dev] RFC: app-eselect category

I had already brought this up a long time ago [1] but it wasn't done
then, mainly because the thread drifted into a discussion of the
category's name. (Does anyone remember the "Universal Select Tool"
which was a GSoC project in 2009? :)

Now the number of eselect-* packages in the app-admin category has
grown to 52. Should we create a new app-eselect category for them?
eselect itself would stay in app-admin.

app-admin itself contains 244 packages which is well above the
median (58) and the mean value (113) of packages in a category.

Yes, please do that before I finish the next package for that
category ;).

Since I've seen only favourable replies, I'm going to create the
category on Wednesday. I'll also take care of the package moves and of
reverse dependencies.

For the category metadata I currently have:

	The app-eselect category contains modules for the eselect
	configuration and administration tool.
</longdescription>
<longdescription lang="de">
	Die Kategorie app-eselect enthält Module für das Konfigurations-
	und Verwaltungswerkzeug eselect.
</longdescription>

If anyone wants further translations included (or improve the above
versions :) then send them to me by e-mail. Please _don't_ send them
to the list; I'll post the collected translations for review later.

All done, one day early.

Unfortunately, updating reverse dependencies took me longer than
expected (repoman and cvs taking their time) so there was some time
window with new packages already in place but package moves for the
old ones still missing. My apologies to developers and users for any
trouble caused by this. In retrospect, I should have asked infra to
suspend rsync during the move process.
