libffi-3.3 is mostly compatible with 3.2.x series.
There are a few things to watch out:
- SONAME changed to .so.7: libffi ebuilds got SLOT=0/7
You might want to add dependency against that to save
a @revdep-rebuild iteration.
- There was at least one minor API change in x86_64 supported
calling convention list. A few packages might break. See:
https://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/Libffi_3.3_porting_notes/FFI_SYSV
We'll gather example fixes at:
https://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/Project:Toolchain#libffi-3.3
Tracker bug:
https://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=libffi-3.3
Please add newly discovered failures against that bug.
I hope to see low amount of failures. All should be easy to fix.
If there will be large fallout I'll mask libffi-3.3.
