[gentoo-dev] Request to update nvidia-drivers to version nvidia-drivers-370.28

Hi,

Linux kernel < 4.7.0 cannot be compiled with nvidia-drivers newer than 367.35-r1.
Linux kernel >= 4.70 cannot be compiled with nvidia-drivers older than 370.23.

According to this

Linux kernels < 4.7.0 are affected by a security bug.

Unfortunately nvidia-drivers 370.23 has a bug too: Blender (and may be
other similiar programs) crash when accessing certain funtionality
of that driver.

I reported that bug here:
https://developer.blender.org/T49113

Due to that a bug was reported to nvidia and they accepted and fixed
that bug with nvidia dirvers 370.23, which became already available.

Without that driver all Blender users have to stick with a Linux
kernel with a security problem or have to quit using Blender...

Would it be possible to integrate the newest nvidia-driver 370.28 into
Gentoo so that users of Blender and similiar programs could happily
switch to Linux kernel >=4.7.0 (4.7.3) ?
