All,
there are still several open bugs on the tracker for this issue [1],.
This is the only thing that is preventing us from removing the direct
reference to sys-apps/openrc from @system.
As shown in the bug, the fix is to have the package depend on
sys-apps/gentoo-functions and source /lib/gentoo/functions.sh instead of
/etc/init.d/functions.sh.
If there are no objections, I will start working on fixing some of these
soon.
