Yes, Portage could also be helped out with some output improvements. It requires an analysis on its own, among the kind of collecting "bad non understandable output" and the solution to it; then try to make up "favorable output" for it. After which it has to be seen if the needed information can be obtained, as well as the algorithms for that favorable output can be implemented. Somewhere in that flow we also need to have some kind of quality review cycle to see if the "favorable output" helps; otherwise, it could make the situation worse instead of better. Because, really, ... http://bpaste.net/raw/Pp9Iv18ehzzHKVbm4Sbe/ ... does not give away upower as a root blocker cause; even going further than that, it doesn't suggest upower-pm-utils as an alternative. --=20 With kind regards, Tom Wijsman (TomWij) Gentoo Developer E-mail address : TomWij@gentoo.org GPG Public Key : 6D34E57D GPG Fingerprint : C165 AF18 AB4C 400B C3D2 ABF0 95B2 1FCD 6D34 E57D --Sig_/X4_yWXHIXaJuIaUVSySj=03 Content-Type: application/pgp-signature; name=signature.asc Content-Disposition: attachment; filename=signature.asc -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v2.0.22 (GNU/Linux) iQEcBAEBAgAGBQJTje42AAoJEPWZc8roOL/Q5DgH/R/TKgHlIq9DSsr0k2QWqsex NqmCcXCei7hb5x8dKLn8vtmDNYhC2OMeqJmQ/+4yBufOeW/Y79TX/snQT+E/wNDJ EP2ZQBfmtBxsYl3iPrFQmWy2aCFBt/0anSh3Nkvv+LJE2wS4Oqkp6oDPLYywAuRu vhz3qM/RxAAUkQGnQLA6g4VNMAf2TlM8oFFqyKiHqWfc1lGIO9cdUMSnG30xvG9z TCNUEQwmwDJkN8WclOWKrETUGAhIV0HJa6V0gdOI+HhHW8N0UBTENAmTt+K7DHUE ynrhBl79GB8T3LG1R4umDFvXBA9Y+jIm2bpyBrYutM5M46fg+GrlhDjQd8+BCS0= =iqo0 -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- --Sig_/X4_yWXHIXaJuIaUVSySj=03--
