To me, it's easier to read than having to scroll down to the end; only to figure out someone might have been top posting and scroll up again. You see similar effects happen in exams; some teachers write all the questions at once and expect students to answer them at the end, other teachers write the questions one-by-one and leave room in between the question to answer. Each approach with its own (dis)advantages.
