* [gentoo-dev] bug-wranglers queue is large

Given that the b-w queue is over 200 bugs and some have not been wrangled
for 3 weeks...

Could everyone spend 5 minutes wrangling 5 bugs? (or more if you are
willing :)

Thanks,
Jeremy

I'm going to grab this one and ask how is Gentoo going in terms of fresh
souls. I understand the recruiting process is slow and the recruiters
are understaffed. But I imagine somehow that there is less people
joining us now a days compared to a few years..

I'm currently guiding a friend to potentially join Gentoo in the future.
My plan is first to prepare him for Arch Testing, since it was also my
entry point on Gentoo. I would like to hear your experience and ideas
how to successfully guide people towards Gentoo development.

Regards,
- Angelo

I recently was introduced to x86 arch testing by fauli. I thought I
could also help bug wrangling. Currently I am waiting for my extended
bugzilla rights http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=309967 .

I can do a bit, I already have bugedit permissions from AMD64 AT and do
bugwrangling for the KDE team.

Are there any written rules somewhere on what can / should / must not be done
by a non-dev (not yet dev?) bugwrangler on the general queue?

Cheers, Andreas (dilfridge)

 The bug wranglers have a project page with instructions.

* Always full atoms: category/package
* Dupe search

For the list record: halcy0n gave him permissions in the meantime.

Thomas, welcome on buzilla board!

Ping again

The list has >100 unassigned bugs for more than one week

I plan to create a patch for this[1] page and poke devrel for that

Actually, you just need to add some tags to your project page and the
Staffing Needs page gets automatically updated after few minutes.

Example:

  <recruitment>
    <job>
      <summary>Herd Tester</summary>
      <details>
        Chromium in Gentoo project needs more people testing packages.
        We are not always able to reproduce reported issues, and having
        more people respond to testing requests would be useful.
        No quiz is necessary to start.
      </details>
      <requirements>
        If you are running www-client/chromium or chromium-bin,
        and are willing to spend some time helping Gentoo,
        feel free to apply.
      </requirements>
      <contact>alias@g.o</contact>
    </job>
  </recruitment>
