Worth a shot, it seemed to work last time (and I just noticed that a neglected
-dev mail folder is a bad thing).
G-cpan-0.15 was put out last night; 99% bug fixes, a few easter eggs, and some
tweaks. Any other cool updates in the last few weeks? (it's been 20 days since
the last time I started this thread - at this rate, we might make enough input
to make Chris' job on the gwn easier).

I'll use this to send out the message that I was going to send
anyways :)
I have just placed gentoolkit-dev-0.2.6.5 in the tree which contains an
echangelog that supports subversion and git (thanks to antarus and
genstef). It is currently package masked so that it can be fully
tested.
Anyhow, consider this a call for people to test. If you run into any
bugs please report them on bug #136048.
Secondly, the next pre-release of gentoolkit (gentoolkit-0.2.4_pre6)
will have two new utilities in the path (thanks to solar), genpkgindex
and epkginfo. genpkgindex creates metadata for binary packages and is
suitable for use with qmerge from portage-utils. epkginfo is a small
program that will display metadata information about packages in
portage.
Regards,
Paul

I just released another tool called app-portage/autounmask yesterday which you
may find quite handy when you need to unmask packages. (Think of ~
kde/gnome.)

You are declared official Project Status Report Gathering Manager.
Emacs team has taken over the Overlay ebuilds to the normal Portage
tree, keywording is going on (pokes Jokey again), no bugs reported by
users, but we hunted some down ourselves.
Now we (mainly Ulrich) are tracking down issues where a Emacs package
is loaded on every startup of Emacs. This makes Emacs slower, while
there is a mechanism to load the package when it is really needed. So
this drips into the tree slowly but will improve overall performance,
as we are filing stabilisation bugs to get rid of really old packages.
Our activities can be tracked in our Overlay Wiki [1].
Another front has been opened with sorting Emacs team as a subproject
under Lisp. We (hkBst, joslwah, graaff, ulm and myself) are now tied
together [2] while all incarnations of Emacs (GNU Emacs, XEmacs) are
bundled in the Emacs project. People looking for support on Scheme,
Common Lisp, Elisp or (X)Emacs, may also have a look at the exisiting
#gentoo-lisp channel.
And on Saturday I will fly to the US (Sacramento to be more exact), but
I don't think I will have time to meet any of you as it is a two week
family visit with some rituals done by a Jewish sect (they call
themselves catholic Christians). Anyway, if anybody urges to meet me
(and is near), drop a line.

For Gnome, 2.18.1 is almost entirely in the tree, but still masked
pending the unmasking of hal (which has one bug left, last I checked).
2.19.1 is going into the overlay slowly.

It's a rather rare occasion in my case [1], but i actually used CVS a
couple of minutes ago. No worries, the tree is still safe from me, i
just (finally) uploaded the project page for the proctors [2].
I hope it answers all the questions people have been asking me every
now and then, like how to contact us and who's on the team in the
first place.
Of course there is still a lot of work to be done, but i think we're
heading into the right direction.
cheers,

We're working on getting X.Org 7.2 stable. The hot new stuff, video
hotplugging et al, is in xorg-server 1.3 and xf86-video-i810 2.0. Other
drivers remain to be ported. Also 1.3 has faster EXA, for those of you
who use the new acceleration architecture instead of XAA. (See
AccelMethod in the xorg.conf man page for info.)
Also a new mesa dev release should be coming out later today.
Thanks,
Donnie

AccelMethod is actually documented in individual driver man pages if
they're capable of it, as a reader pointed out to me in private email.
Thanks,
Donnie

I have to concede, I saw this last thursday and sat on it all weekend, mulling
it over. I realize you (most likely) meant it as a joke, but for what its
worth, I think I'd suck at it if I had to do it consistently.
That said...expect more until someone does take up the role ;) Now figuring out
how to get this stuff rolled into the gwn (i smell an email to gwn-feedback in
my future, I know) so that it could get better coverage (since the mudrakers
only look to -dev for the flame wars, not the fun stuff).

My project status glep (and requisite software) is about 50% done, I
just need to get the ruby -> GuideXML -> xml part done and polish off
the glep (and get it approved).
