I propose creating a new category, sci-visualization, to house scientific
visualization applications. There are at least 17 applications I have
identified which are already in the tree that could be moved. Many of them
are in media-gfx with photo applications etc. They are all taken care of by
the scientific application herd.

The category is kept intentionally broad to include applications such as
grace, qtiplot and gnuplot which visualise 2/3D data, gwyddion and gxsm which
visualise SPM data. There are some data mining applications (getting data
points from published graphs) that would fit in here quite nicely too. This
has already been discussed on the gentoo-science list and I put it to the
wider Gentoo community before adding the new category and moving any ebuilds.

Thanks,

Marcus

Just to reply to myself as there were no objections I have now added this new
category. All the scientific visualisation applications I could spot have
been moved already. Only applications are intended to live there, and there
are a couple I intend to add in the next few weeks. Hopefully this hasn't
caused any problems for anyone.

Thanks.
