Subject: [gentoo-dev] emerge unmerges all system-packages
Date: Mon, 31 Oct 2005 08:42:50 +0100 [thread overview]
Message-ID: <200510310842.50576.bderks@web.de> (raw)
Hi,
after making a stage 4-backup i tried to test gcc 4.02 with
glibc-2.3.5.20050722, but i got certain errors compiling kde3.5
beta2.
So i restored from stage4-backup, but now:
Every time i emerge a package (yesterday tried 'emerge portage')
the package compiles correctly, but after that all packages from
'system' are unemerged (like the prior version of the package i
installed: 5-4-3-2-1 - bumm!).
So that every emerge ends in:
---------------------------------snip------------------------------------------
--- !empty dir /etc
Traceback (most recent call last):
File "/usr/bin/emerge", line 3206, in ?
unmerge("clean", ["world"])

[Errno 2] No such file or directory:
/bin/bash [glibc-2.3.5-r1] bash

and the system is dead, because the bash in also gone...
Help welcome....
Bernhard
