Another package that's going to disappear. media-plugins/avi-xmms it's in p.mask since 22 Apr 2003: # (22 Apr 2003) # the package is unmainteained and dead upstream. it will die in portage # accordingly. media-plugins/avi-xmms the current version is marked x86 -* as it contains x86 asm. There are other plugins for video playing with xmms that are probably more stable.
