Understandable, but I don't know any other way to do it.  The function does 
nothing more than return a list of ebuild versions to make the depend happy.  
It doesn't rely on anything dynamic.

$(qt_min_version 3.3) == "|| ( =x11-libs/qt-3.3.3 =x11-libs/qt-3.3.3-r1 
=x11-libs/qt-3.3.3-r2 =x11-libs/qt-3.3.3-r3 =x11-libs/qt-3.3.4 )

In other words, it's just shorthand for explicitly listing all of the 
versions.
