Adding a config file in an /etc/something.d is just like merging some config changes in an /etc/something.conf without waiting for the user to do his "etc-update". Take for instance someone who has a logrotate cronjob for some of his log files, but not the apache ones because for this ones he has very special needs and scripts: if his next apache update blindly installs a logrotate.d file, he may not appreciate it at all... -- TGL. -- gentoo-dev@gentoo.org mailing list
