I'm not able to make it compile b= oth=20 as a standalone ebuild i'm trying to write and as the complete pam with=20 +pam_console flag. Anyway I was wondering what pam_console is used for, at the end. It's a way= to=20 set up permissions when someone logins at a console. I would never use=20 something like that on a remote server, as anyone which could have a local= =20 login can do anything=B7 It also doesn't make sense on a recent user system= =20 configured properly, as devfs/udev would take care of permissions, and user= s=20 needs only to set the group correctly (simpler than using pam_console=20 anyway). Seems to me like a workaround for old old (too old!) systems, which is no m= ore=20 needed at least for us. I know this is there also for compatibility, but this makes sys-libs/pam=20 ebuild very bloated as for now, and still I don't know a reason to have it= =20 there. Some comments about it? =2D-=20 Diego "Flameeyes" Petten=F2 http://wwwstud.dsi.unive.it/~dpetteno/ --nextPart10808812.g7LvK2Fv9I Content-Type: application/pgp-signature -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.1 (GNU/Linux) iD8DBQBCS/hWe2h1+2mHVWMRAkfWAKDRVdzDo1yLeBEefLL1O2WXQm0PFwCggAIP 7uSnTNYBV2batMIUsHMh2is= =dU7G -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- --nextPart10808812.g7LvK2Fv9I-- -- gentoo-dev@gentoo.org mailing list
