 Hello
I have tried the user list and the forums and just cant seem to get an
answer to this. When trying to upgrade my glibc cuz it comes up as an upgrade
it does nothing bit infinite loop. I have tried with -nptl -nptlonly and
+nptl +nptlonly that was suggested in the forums without no luck. So i
thought i would try the almighty devs and see what you can tell me. My laptop
is a AMD 1.2ghz M with 256 megs of ram. here is my emerge info if it will
help.

emerge info
Portage 2.0.51.19 (default-linux/x86/2004.3, gcc-3.3.5,

My laptop isnt dead or anything and i have read one bug report on this issue
as well but still has resulted in no positive results. I really want to get
this resolved as i want to install KDE 3.4 and it calls glibc as a dep so i
need to upgrade. I have also tried a ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="~x86" emerge glibc and
that brings up version glibc-2.3.4.20050125-r1 but this one loops as well.
Anyone know of a fix for this. It would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

everytime an infinite loop with glibc has come up it's been because the user's
clock was screwed up ... perhaps you should verify that `date` is displaying
the correct time ?

Ok i read through that bug and have followed its suggestions recompiled my
gcc. Made sure my time was correct and its still looping away. Maybe its just
time for a fresh install or something. I have to have my laptop in good
working order. Seriously discouraged.

Not very scientific, but try:

$ touch foo; find / -newer foo

maybe its not a header from gcc that is newer ?
