I've just released a new app-vim/gentoo-syntax version (20041113) which
(amongst other things) includes support for GLEP 31 (UTF-8). If you use
*vim, please give this a go and check that the behaviour is still sane.
It's probably wise to read the :help entries for encoding, fileencoding
and termencoding... If you have problems, you can disable the UTF-8
stuff with the "ignore-glep31" USE flag, but please let vim@ know via a
bug if this happens.
To make use of this, you'll need to add a line like:
filetype plugin on
to your ~/.vimrc file (see :help filetype-plugin-on for more). Unless
someone gives me a really good reason why I shouldn't, I'll be turning
this on by default in the global vimrc next time vim-core gets bumped.
Please let me know how you get on with this. At some point in the future
I'm considering mmmmmaybe including this package as a PDEPEND of
vim-core, so I'd kinda like to hear about any nasties sooner rather than
later.
