I'm definitely not against having the ugly hack which might sometimes protect you from certain kinds of stupidity available as an option for users who want it. However, especially considering the side effects, I don't see a good reason to change from the current situation. Anyone who wants to use -fstack-protector can set it in their CFLAGS in make.conf, nice and simple. -- Ciaran McCreesh : Gentoo Developer (Sparc, MIPS, Vim, Fluxbox) Mail : ciaranm at gentoo.org Web : http://dev.gentoo.org/~ciaranm --Signature=_Fri__24_Sep_2004_00_27_41_+0100_TtHCzoCbm+Td7ozJ Content-Type: application/pgp-signature -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.2.4 (GNU/Linux) iD8DBQFBU1vv96zL6DUtXhERAkRMAJ0Y/cG3mcykkyIrodx0KFP5JOrI5QCgsS9r Hjo4cbyJEIrj1I0RVMuICNI= =YQWF -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- --Signature=_Fri__24_Sep_2004_00_27_41_+0100_TtHCzoCbm+Td7ozJ--
