Hi,

I just wanted to introduce myself. I'm Mark Dierolf, and I decided to join
this list because I want to help out more with gentoo development. I've
written about 20 or so ebuilds, most of which are sitting in the bug tracker,
and a few others which are in portage, such as
net-misc/balance net-misc/pen net-misc/ccxstream

I currently work for www.financialcontent.com, where we run a total of about
40 gentoo server. We automate almost all of our server maintenance using
ebuilds. I'm currently working on creating a software package which will
simplify set up & administration of network boot thin servers. I'm also doing
testing and bug fixing for the AMD64.

Anyway, didn't want to waste a ton of mailing list bandwidth and brag that I
get to work with gentoo all day, just wanted to introduce myself :)

Thanks,
Mark Dierolf

I want to get involved, and I want gentoo to take over the world!

Can some one lead me to documentation on how to make ebuilds?
Is there a list of packages that need maintainers?

Daniel,

Do you know if our SDK will run on Gentoo?

If so, I have no problems plugging it to developers.

Thanks!

I don't know if you are the right person, or if there are FAQs somewhere, but I seem to be stuck with my PCMCIA controller.

I was able to get to stage 3 using the CD, and then compiled the kernel without any problems and made sure to have PCMCIA support. However, when I got to code listing 34 (well, right before it), it states:

If you have a PCMCIA card installed, have a quick look into /etc/init.d/pcmcia to verify that things seem all right for your setup, then add Code listing 34

The /etc/init.d/pcmcia is blank, and I didn't know what to add to it. I have continued on, but have no networking support.

Could you point me in the right direction to add networking support? I am looking forward to trying out this distribution.

Thank you.

Chip

Heya..

Just writing to say how attractive Gentoo linux is. I personally havent
tried it out (yet), but a system which implements a BSD-type ports
system has to be good!

Anyway, the real reason why I am writing, is because I added a blurb
about Gentoo on my site, unixresources.org. the link is here:
http://www.unixresources.org/gentoo.phtml

I just wanted to let you know, and if there's anything you'd like
changed (because of intellectual property or anything), please feel free
to email me.

Thanks.

Hello, what is the appropriate method to unmerge and merge glibc? When I
tried to well um it broke everything almost it could not deduce the who was
the root, and lost control of the system. I really like the package but the
distro and package system are unfamiliar turf for me.
