While looking around the other day, I noticed that there are rss/rdf
readers spread pretty much all over the tree. I asked around on #-dev, and
the concensus seemed to be that they probably belong in net-news even
though they aren't nntp readers. I decided this probably needs a little
more concensus from the community as a whole. Let me know what you think.
I'll do all the legwork to get things aligned once a decision is made.

net-www , they are more comparable to browsers than news readers i
think. They are in most cases just another way of getting feeds that are
otherwise viewed while browsing.

I don't agree. E.g. Opera does nntp, too, but that's no reason to put all
dedicated news applications into net-www. Following your argument, we could
drop the net-news category at all.

These are not news (nntp) applications as you seem to think.

| These are not news (nntp) applications as you seem to think.
Is *everything* in net-news/ an nntp application? If so, wouldn't
net-nntp be a better name? It seems that some net- categories are
governed by protocol and some by purpose...

What I do think is, that it is fairly impractical to limit categories to
single protocols. nntp is about news and news feeds too.

They belong in www-clients for now, as per the net-www split:

Please do not commit any new packages to net-www. Put them in one of the new
www-* categories.
Many thanks,
Stu
