howdy :)

As part of the openexr stuff I'm doing, we are working on a openexr Shake plugin (http://www.apple.com/shake/)

the problem is the plugin has to be compiled using the same gcc that shake was compiled with, in this instance gcc 2.9.5 (higher then
2.95.3)

What would be the easest way to be able to compile 2.9.5 supported binaries with 3.x.x gcc ?

Would it just be easer to build a custom box with gcc 2.9.5 and do a binary gentoo release for this ?

unfortunately the only solution for this is to install 2.95, i could
explain why it's not possible, but since you are asking this question, i
doubt it would do any good (no offence) the only solution is to install
gcc2.95 and use the gcc switching utility that comes with the package (i
think it's called gcc-select or something) sorry i couldn't give you
better news

I suspected as much .... so I'll rather do a binary ebuild :)
