Hi everyone,

Yesterday I began work on a GTK version of the tool guitooEtcetera[1]
which is in early alpha stages. gEtcetera[2] (my GTK version) and
guitooEtcetera are GUI tools for updating CONFIG_PROTECTed directories.
A simplified etc-update is near the top of many users wish list, hence
the creation of these tools.

I propose a project that aims to turn aspects of Gentoos operation into
GUI applications.
Including, but not limited to:
etc-update
portage (A complete and finished tool this time)
rc

The project team would aim to provide GTK and Qt based versions of each
tool.

Having users use tools developed by us(Gentoo), we will be able to apply
a certain level of QA and consistency.

So please, bring on the feedback!

IMO it's part of the tools-portage (for the portage interface) and
desktop-research (for the GUI integration) subprojects.

In the beginning, there was nothing. And God said, 'Let there be
Light.' And there was still nothing, but you could see a bit better.
