Folks --
marduk from irc has written an updated and improved online packages
database which we will be deploying to replace our current solution. When
you have a chance, please take a look at:
http://packages.gentoo.org/
At the moment, this site is in beta. This means it is not a production
site and may go down for maintenance/upgrades at any time. Thus, if it
appears unresponsive, it may be down momentarily. Please try again later.
Comments and questions are welcome.

Very nice. What do the bug icons, checks, and Xs mean?

If you highlight them..
Checks means stable for that system
X's mean its not available for that system..
Bugs means it in testing for that system..
is that what your talking about??

I'm impressed :) Very good work, looks excellent.
I like the different rss feeds as well.

Where do bug reports go?

Great, I like it...
The search output is good (the version matrix).
strangely, I searched for "kde-base" and I got kdiff3 which is under the
app-misc catergory.
BTW, is the search regex enabled? if not, can you add a selection box to
allow regex searching?
And while we're on the subject - a different yet related issue -
It would be nice to have the description of each package under the
online package database.
currently I'm able to do the same thing with "esearch -F -c ^tree-name",
but I think it would add to that package.

errr... I think it would add to these pages, even.
Is packages.gentoo.org suppose to replace or add to the current
online database pages, btw?

Excellent, already a search shortcut thingy in Konq!
Can the search results be returned as XML/RSS (perhaps the addition of
an extra parameter to the query string)?

Troy Dack Gentoo moves pretty fast; if you don't stop and
tad@gentoo.org look around once in awhile, you could miss out.

I think the check-marks are if the ebuild is in stable arch (eg. x86). The bug
indicates the ebuild is in unstable arch (eg. ~x86), and a faded
cross means its not been listed for that arch. I guess an active
cross indicates its been masked from that arch.

Looks great.
Missing feature: (priority: nice to have):
Replace a string in Comments like 'closes #1234' with a
<a href="http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id={1234}"......
:-)
