I'd like to propose a new category. Name: dev-pic Alternate name: dev-embedded Purpose: development software dealing with PIC microcontrollers and other embedded chips. We currently have pending ebuilds for a fair number of the packages listed on a site (http://www.gnupic.org/) that tracks software for handing PIC microcontrollers et al under linux. There is also at least 1 ebuild in the tree for this type of software, wrongly filed under dev-util (It's an assembler/linker/deassembler for PIC1[246][CF]* chips). Support Reasoning: I've got a class on programming PIC16F87[47] chips this semester, and I really don't want to use the nasty windows programs to build my code. And since I've got access to the hardware, might as well test out the code that should work to get it into the tree. (For those interested, for my class, we had to come up with independant projects to do with the chips, and my team has decided to go with my suggestion of building the interface unit for an embedded OEM GPS reciever). --=20 Robin Hugh Johnson E-Mail : robbat2@orbis-terrarum.net Home Page : http://www.orbis-terrarum.net/?l=3Dpeople.robbat2 ICQ# : 30269588 or 41961639 GnuPG FP : 11AC BA4F 4778 E3F6 E4ED F38E B27B 944E 3488 4E85 --+pHx0qQiF2pBVqBT Content-Type: application/pgp-signature Content-Disposition: inline -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.2.3 (GNU/Linux) Comment: Robbat2 @ Orbis-Terrarum Networks iD8DBQE/kD1dsnuUTjSIToURAvMtAJ0UOCdITQ5CXJufZZDNHjbtxNtDuwCfY6ZV A5Xty1LWpLjc/CIxfm9gG5M= =tKcQ -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- --+pHx0qQiF2pBVqBT--
