At my university people use an online based calendar called Corporate
Time. I guess that would be sufficient since we probably don't need to
sync that stuff with people's PIMs and such.

Just was wondering if anyone would be interested in having some kind of Gentoo
Calendar setup where people can view or sync to (and devs can modify) via
some calendar standard. I know KOrganizer provides a protocol for merging
other calendars on the net into their current calendar, but I'm not sure how
much of a standard that is...
I'll look into details if anyone's interested in having such a calendar...

I think this would be a great idea. If nothing else, it gives us somewhere to
share and query vacation information.

Well, as vapier suggested, we could use it for vacation times... We could also
mark release dates and feature freeze periods (for LiveCD contents) and
similar things, even if they are marked after the fact... Meetings could also
be scheduled on it (and possibly clients could be configured to automaticly
remind of meetings). And don't forget bugfix day things... =p

You've missed quite a bit of discussion in -dev, but apparently iCal is
standard enough that all calendar apps use it... And should sync w/ people's
PIMs just fine, also.

The iCal format seems to be the best, because the k-organizer, and mozilla
organizer are compatible. Im' not sure if evolution is compatible. Anybody want
to check?
Here at work, some people are using korganizer, mozilla calendar and the maocos
X ical, and it works great.

FWIW, evolution does support ical, though i've never tried it.

One of the infrastructure projects on our plate is to implement tikiwiki
which I believe has shared calendaring features. (though I've never looked
into the details myself)
We're simply waiting on the hardware to run it on, which will hopefully be
donated here in the next week or so by php|architect magazine. We'll see.
