Hi!

since portage has some difficulties deciding whats more actual:

- media-libs/libmpeg2-0.3.1
- media-libs/libmpeg2-0.3.2_pre20030625

if media-libs/libmpeg2-0.3.1 is installed it will emerge
media-libs/libmpeg2-0.3.2_pre20030625
if media-libs/libmpeg2-0.3.2_pre20030625 is installed it will emerge
media-libs/libmpeg2-0.3.1

Thus emerging media-libs/libmpeg2 every time emerge -u --deep world is executed.

I've tried to get around with putting ">=media-libs/libmpeg2-0.3.2_pre20030625"
in the world file. But this seems to be ignored. Doing "emerge -u --deep world"
emerges "media-libs/libmpeg2-0.3.1"! Looks realy as if there is a problem with
"media-libs/libmpeg2-0.3.2_pre20030625" maybe it is the filename choosen? To be
exact: "_pre20030625". Maybe this should read "-pre20030625"?

This looks more like a dependency problem. There is probably some package
merged that depends on libmpeg2, and does not want pre2???, and also some
package that wants pre2???

To check use qpkg to find out all packages that depend on libmpeg2
