I just did a fresh install of Gentoo and must have lost a full day doing the emerges. There were many times when emerge was unable to connect to mirrors.towbit.net, path not found/or connection timed out. Also the download speed was anywhere from 153 b/s to a blazing 8 k/s all of this with many pauses with the downloads.
