since noone seems to love the default-1.0 profile anymore, ive gone ahead and
trimmed the following packages to stay in sync with the 1.4 profile:
ftp, gettext, gdbm, slang, and vritual/bootloader

also a notice for other profile maintainers to trim your profiles too (since
they still havent been updated for the most part)

love & kisses

Mike,

I'm sure I'm not the only one who's never heard of these profiles, and has no
idea what they are and how to take advantage of them ;-)

Can you point me to some useful documentation on them?

Thanks,
Stu

Nice; the system is elegant enough to make maintenance of the 1.0
profile pretty easy, so I'm glad to see someone's taking an interest in
it still. I still have it in use on a few workstations here, and I bet
there are quite a few out there who wouldn't appreciate a broken profile
due to age/neglect.

Keep up the good work(tm)!
Brad

Also if there are no problems could someone update the perl version in 1.0,
currently it breaks world updates as some packages need 5.8. My server now
runs perl-5.8 without any problems (I don't really use perl much on it
though)

i'm not sure i understand ...
currently the requirement for 1.0 is 'dev-lang/perl' ... that is you can have
any version ... why dont you try `emerge sync` ?
