Hi. I've ported this lilo patch already, you may find it in the lilo-22.3.4.ebuild. Install that and try your artwork, see if it works ok? I still use this version currently, as I've not gotten a proper patch for the latest lilo, though there's a contributed one in my buglist; but apparently there's a problem with it. The thing with grub is, that there's already a VGA16 patch that I've put in, and it's different from the stuff that SuSE does to grub. Some people are attached to it now as they've cooked up artwork/bootsplashes for it.
